We want you to have a place where your body feels like yours and your life can begin to feel like yours to live.

The Somatide Experience

Within the depths of being, a swirling flock of birds emerges. Their frantic movements and fluttering wings echo the spectrum of emotions that often grips us — anger, unease, overwhelm, fear, and sorrow.

Amidst this internal turmoil, with each breath and movement, a sense of shift occurs. From the depths, a stream emerges, born of the vast expanse of the ocean within. The tides of the stream sing a soothing melody, inviting the restless birds to its bank.

As they dip their beaks into the cool, refreshing waters, the birds’ frenzied dance softens. Their once frantic wings now rest in solace upon the branches of nearby trees that bowed gracefully over the stream.

In the tranquil embrace of nature’s symphony, a silent message resonates. The frenetic dance of the birds is not merely a fleeting affliction but rather, carriers of profound insight. They speak in the language of the body, reminding us of the inherent need for release, rest, nourishment, play, and connection that enables us to heed the whispers of our body. It is the art of tending to the inner landscape, of embracing the innate wisdom woven from those before us, and allowing the rhythms of our bodies.

At Somatide Counseling, we honor the inherent wisdom of the body and the transformative power of presence. Together may we forge a path towards self-discovery, wholeness and embodiment. Like the tides in the oceans that flow ever onwards, let us navigate the currents of life with openness, knowing that within you lies a unique rhythm that provides curiosity, support, strength, and resilience.

So often, we struggle within contrasts: the desire to be enough but not too much, feeling resentful yet guilty, to be productive but have ease, not care yet deeply care. These moments often culminate in self-blame, tangled by expectations and inhibitions, leading to disconnection from body, self, and others. But maybe it's the desire for stability while seeking growth, the need for space while craving connection, the push to be authentic while navigating norms, the aspiration to be self-reliant while lacking resources, the need to advocate while fearing repercussions, and the struggle to maintain hope amid persistent adversity.

Our lives are impacted by generational trauma, mechanics of oppression, cultural pressures, and the delicate dance of relationships with self and others. And maybe the unearthing of your voice is just at its surface as the unrooting of outer voices begins.

My approach is collaborative with practice of cultural humility and deep respect for your voice. My practice is grounded in an anti-oppression framework to better hold affirming spaces that foster a sense of belonging, acknowledgment, and compassion. I look forward to hearing your story.
